Grand River Greenway at Spring Lake

Village of Spring Lake, Michigan

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Wolverine Building Group turned to Kent Companies to assist in the construction of a 900 foot section of a pedestrian boardwalk surrounding Spring Lake. One hundred and sixteen helical piers were driven to depths ranging from 50 to 65 feet. Battered piers were installed at five to ten degrees to provide additional
lateral support to the boardwalk. The piers were installed using a mini excavator which left minimal impact on the soft waterfront soils. Installation was completed quickly, which allowed carpenters to follow immediately behind the foundation crews.
